Executive speeches

For several years, I served as speechwriter for Mercedes-Benz board member and Chief Technology Officer, Markus Schäfer. I coordinated closely with Markus’ communications team to develop scripts that conveyed his key messages concisely and authoritatively, taking into account that English is not his native language. On-site at events, I was an integral part of the production team, supporting smooth execution.

This speech was delivered at the Mercedes-Benz brand event on the eve of the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich.

Social media

I write content for client social media channels, including corporate and C-level accounts. In coordination with digital communications specialists and client stakeholders, I helped develop editorial plans to grow followership and establish executives as thought leaders in their fields. During my tenure as lead editor for Markus Schäfer’s LinkedIn account, his followership grew from around 30,000 to almost 103,000.

Websites

As lead consultant editor for Technology and Sustainability topics on behalf of Mercedes-Benz AG, I was responsible for developing the storyline, structure and editorial content for key sections of the company’s online presence. This involved intensive coordination with web designers, SEO specialists, technical experts, communications stakeholders, visual content producers and legal advisers. One recent example is the Sustainability sub-section of the company’s brand website.

Media resources

Writing high-quality press releases is a core editorial function in communications. My extensive experience extends from snappy one-pagers to detailed press kits with several chapters. For the Mercedes-Benz CONCEPT CLA CLASS, I was tasked with producing an in-depth media resource to present the company’s all-new electric-first architecture for its forthcoming family of entry-level models. From initial customer briefing sessions to storyline and structural development, copywriting, adaptation and ultimate publication, I managed and implemented all editorial steps in coordination with client stakeholders.

Innovation communications

One of my core skills is conveying complex technology topics to a variety of audiences. During the ongoing transformation of the automotive sector, this includes innovation in electric drive, digitalisation and the development of the software-defined vehicle. As Mercedes-Benz prepared to rollout its first “electric-first” vehicle platform, I was tasked with writing a detailed press kit for its flagship technology programme the VISION EQXX. The brief was a departure from the usual Mercedes-Benz tone of voice to embrace a more engaging, storytelling approach. I had full responsibility for liaising and coordinating with key client stakeholders, including senior communications executives and technical specialists in multiple departments.

Investor relations

Speechwriting for board members of global companies like Mercedes-Benz often involves strategic subject matter of direct interest to capital markets. The unveiling of the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) was a crucial event held in the heart of Silicon Valley for key investor relations audiences. I coordinated and wrote the 50-minute keynote address by Mercedes-Benz Chief Technology Officer Markus Schäfer and Chief Software Officer Magnus Östberg. This was a substantial project that took months of preparation and development in collaboration with key stakeholders. The feedback from attendees on-site was phenomenal, with high praise for the level of useful insight into a highly complex and strategic topic.
